Author's Notes: Painted for session two of Crossover_HP on LJ.
This is an unfinished oil painting, using the underpainting and glazing technique popular in Baroque painting. Next step will be to begin glazing in the colours in transparent layers. I will be exhibiting the finished painting at Portus in July.
This one launched off the prompt but I must confess, it had it's own ideas from the beginning. Most images of Macbeth's Weird Sisters dwell on the stereotypical ugly old crone witches, but after briefly considering the wicked witches of Harry Potter, I was moved to paint the Wiccan Triple Goddess: Maiden Mother & Crone. Macbeth might have had a better result if he'd consulted the Wise Women sooner and more often!

Brewing up trouble...

I made wonderful progress on my painting for Phoenix Flies , After a week of frustration. that's been educational for me, but I am so impatient!  I had to wipe the first drawing off the canvas, because I hadn't really worked it out well enough for the ifrgures to work well. I am SO glad I did...
